The Design The reverse features the iconic image of Britannia, the revered Goddess and Guardian of Britain, gazing across the sea while confronting fierce winds. Clutching a trident and shield, she symbolizes her unwavering commitment to protecting the great nation of Britain, poised to defend when necessary.

Inscriptions on this side denote the coin's name, weight, purity, and metal content, reading: 'BRITANNIA,' '1 OZ,' and '999 FINE SILVER.'

The obverse bears the likeness of the reigning Monarch. Until mid-2023, it featured the effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. Following Her Majesty's passing in 2022, the Royal Mint introduced the first portrait of King Charles II as the new obverse design in the latter half of 2023, to welcome His Majesty.
