India
The flag of India, known as the "Tiranga," features a design rich in symbolism. It consists of three horizontal stripes, each carrying a deep meaning for the nation. The top stripe is saffron, representing the spirit of courage and sacrifice. The middle stripe is white, symbolizing truth, peace, and purity. The bottom stripe is green, reflecting faith, fertility, and the land's lushness.
Central to the flag is a navy blue Ashoka Chakra, a wheel with 24 spokes, placed in the white stripe. This chakra represents the eternal cycle of life, progress, and righteousness. The flag, as it is known today, was adopted on July 22, 1947, just before India gained independence from British rule. It was designed by Pingali Venkayya, who infused it with India's rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
The Tiranga stands as a symbol of unity, embodying the diverse yet harmonious nature of the Indian subcontinent.
