The flag of Malaysia, known as the "Jalur Gemilang," is a vibrant and symbolic representation of the nation's identity and unity. The design features thirteen horizontal stripes of red and white, alternating in color. These stripes represent the thirteen states of Malaysia, as well as the unity of the nation.

In the top left corner, there is a blue canton with a yellow crescent and a 14-pointed yellow star. The blue field symbolizes the unity of the Malaysian people, while the yellow crescent represents Islam, the official religion of the country. The 14-pointed star, known as the "Bintang Persekutuan," signifies the unity of the 13 states and the federal government.

The flag was officially adopted on September 16, 1963, when Malaysia was formed through the merger of the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak. The "Jalur Gemilang," meaning "Stripes of Glory," reflects Malaysia's rich cultural heritage, its commitment to unity, and its diverse yet harmonious society.
